Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing the Extension or using the Site you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension and stop using the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.

2. Description of Service

The Extension is a free browser add-on that overlays an animated GIF (a "cat") on top of the YouTube and YouTube Music progress bar. The Site provides information about the Extension, a live customizer, a catalog of cat themes, support and donation links, and contact channels. Both the Site and the Extension are provided without charge.

3. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Site and the Extension only for lawful, personal purposes. You will not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, redistribute, or repackage the Extension or the Site beyond what is allowed by the project's open-source license. You will not use the Site or the Extension to harass, harm, or impersonate others.

You are responsible for the GIFs you upload to the Extension. You agree that you have the legal right to use any GIF you upload, and that the GIF does not contain illegal, infringing, or otherwise harmful content.

4. Intellectual Property

The Nyan Progress Bar name, logo, design assets, and original cat themes are owned by the project maintainers. The cat GIFs included in the Extension are either original works, public-domain content, or used under licenses that permit redistribution. Third-party brands referenced on the Site (e.g., YouTube, Chrome) are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for descriptive purposes only.

5. User-Generated Content

When you upload a GIF to the Extension, the file is stored locally in your own browser via the Chrome Storage API. It is not uploaded to our servers and we do not access, view, or process it in any way. You retain all rights to the GIFs you upload.

If you submit content through the contact form (a message, screenshot, or feedback), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content for the purpose of responding to your request and improving the Extension. We will not share it publicly without your permission.

6. Disclaimers

The Site and the Extension are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site or the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every version of every browser. YouTube may at any time change its player implementation in a way that breaks the cat overlay; we will do our best to fix such issues promptly but cannot guarantee continuous operation.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Nyan Progress Bar project, its maintainers, and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the Site or the Extension. Your only remedy if you are dissatisfied is to stop using the Site and uninstall the Extension.

8. Third-Party Services

The Site links to third-party services (e.g., the Chrome Web Store, GitHub, Ko-fi, Patreon, Donatello). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those services. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

9. Governing Law and Changes

These Terms are governed by general principles of consumer law in the maintainer's country of residence; disputes will be resolved on a good-faith, best-effort basis. We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by an update to the "last updated" date.
